Jacqui Duncan

I worked in publishing as a graphic designer for many years, but I always really just wanted to draw! At the end of 2014 I finally put pen to paper and started illustrating some of my favourite buildings in and around my neighbourhood - the Sydney suburb of Newtown.

I like to bring attention to the ordinary places that we see every day. Buildings we've walked past a thousand times but have never really stopped to look at. Every time I start a new illustration I discover something new - a quirky sign or an ornate detail. Without fail, there is always something that I’ve never noticed before - and it’s those little city bits that, to me, are always interesting and always exciting.
